Formulation & Testing Process
Formulation Process
The formulation process begins by consulting guidelines from ingredient suppliers about the recommended usage and concentration for each ingredient. Sometimes, they even test several hundreds of samples to decide on the best formula.
Cruelty-Free Testing
Mathrecosmetics believes that beauty should be cruelty-free, which is why partners don't test (and never will) on animals. Instead, each product is tested by volunteers who share their skin's reaction after testing and provide their subjective evaluation. Both are taken into account when refining the formula.
Laboratory Testing
After a product is created, it undergoes rigorous testing in a laboratory. This includes measuring various physical and chemical properties, determining stability and expiration date, as well as studying and defining standards for storage. In accordance with the law, each product is tested by a qualified chemist to ensure it complies with safety and consistency tests. We also send the items to external labs to make sure that the chosen preservatives work well throughout the validity period.
Batch Consistency
Our manufacturing partners carefully check the physical and chemical properties for each production batch. This ensures the manufactured product remains consistent with the laboratory-approved version.

Each product page on our website includes a full INCI list (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients). We believe in full transparency, so you can always review the ingredients before making a purchase.
Are MathreCosmetics products safe to use during pregnancy?
Most of our products are formulated with gentle, pregnancy-safe ingredients. However, we always recommend consulting your doctor before introducing new skincare products during pregnancy or breastfeeding, especially those containing Vitamin A derivatives, high-concentration essential oils, or active acids.
What is Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C) in MathreCosmetics products?
Ascorbyl Palmitate is a stable, oil-soluble form of Vitamin C known for its antioxidant properties. It helps brighten the skin, even out tone, and protect against environmental stressors — all while being gentler than pure ascorbic acid, making it suitable for sensitive skin.
Are MathreCosmetics products free from sulfates?
The only sulfate that we use in our products is sodium coco sulfate (SCS), which is approved by the third-party certification organisation COSMOS. SCS does not penetrate the epidermis and is far less irritating than the often-used sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS).
Do MathreCosmetics products contain palm oil or its derivatives?
We are committed to reducing environmental impact. Currently, we do not use pure palm oil, and when derivatives are necessary for formulation, we prioritize RSPO-certified (sustainable) sources.
All ingredients containing palm oil derivatives are RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certified, which means that plantations are cultivated using sustainable methods.
Are MathreCosmetics products free from Parabens, Microplastics, Silicones, Mineral Oil?
You can be sure that all Mathrecosmetics products are free from parabens, mineral oils, silicones, PEG, chemical UV filters, microplastics, synthetic fragrances, artificial colourants and other questionable ingredients.
We choose clean, skin-friendly alternatives for every texture and effect.
Are MathreCosmetics product fragrances natural?
Yes – at MathreCosmetics we do not use synthetic fragrances. All our fragrance compositions are 100% vegan, carefully curated using natural aromatic substances, with no phosphates or other synthetic preservatives involved.
Do MathreCosmetics products contain alcohol?
Not all alcohols are created equal, and not all are bad for the skin – each ingredient in Mathrecosmetics formulas has been carefully evaluated to ensure it is safe to use.
Please check the INCI ingredient list for each product to find out it contains alcohol and/or alcohol derivatives.
However, majority of products has some traces of alcohol since most plant extracts (except in oil products) are made using alcohol-based extraction methods.
So even though there might be no alcohol and/or alcohol derivates listed in INCI, we can’t claim the products are actually alcohol-free.
